Unplanned day at Table Mountain

Another gorgeous day in Cape Town. No plans today so slept in and headed off to the Victoria & Albert Waterfront. A huge mall full of fancy things. I just wanted to stop at Woolworths. Nope, not the US version of days gone by. It is like Walmart...groceries and a variety of clothes and household items.

Then to Table Mountain. You have take advantage of the great weather for the cable car ride up. I paid extra for Fast Track so you have a timed entrance to go up and a special short line to go down. Well worth it because every tourist and Capetonian were there...school holiday started Friday.

Anyway...I went up and about s**t my pants when the damn cablecar started rotating...oh and one side is OPEN with 3 rails between you and certain demise. WTF. So, I went up, got as close to the edge as my vertigo could stand, took 2 pics, gift shop, and back down.

Back to hotel for Sunday lunch buffet on the deck with a beautiful view of the ocean and a Savanna Zero. That is one of their local hard apple ciders . It was tart and oddly lemony. Wasn't expecting that. Then grabbed a couple things on the dessert buffet and up to my cozy room to fill myself with sugar and take a nap! Might take a sundowner cruise tonight.

Front of hotel on a perfect morning

Yep, Krispy Kreme at the V&A Waterfront Mall. The locals lined up for hours when the first one opened!

Lined up for cablecar in the shadow of Lion's Head.

Lion's Head

On the way up. I can't believe  this pic was in focus because I was shaking!! 🤣 We were crammed in and I was standing next to this young girl in her school uniform. She said something to me in a soft voice and I agreed it was a nice day. No, she was saying she liked my shoes, baby pink Hokas. Awe...so sweet.

Left the safety of the cablecar station and the top was full of people doing crazy things to get shots for social media 🫣

Pic #2...view. Not getting any closer to the only 2 feet high safety fence!

Hotel buffet lunch Butter chicken, potato salad, little Greek-ish salad I made from various buffet items.

The pirate ship ocean cruise. Was hoping to take for a sundowner cruise but sold out.

My lunch guest. They had a guy out on the deck/terrace with a broom for such occasions...or if an otter decided to check things out.

And dessert...Tiramisu, mini tart, and mini Swiss roll. Took those to room for later. Tasty!

Had a little nap, repacked, researched where to go for supper. Everyone said to watch the sunset at Camps Bay. So, that was the plan. Camps Bay neighborhood is rather mid to high end and on the beach. It is where Starbucks, Hard Rock Cafe, and the Pick n Pay grocery store.

So I picked The CodFather restaurant. Everything is upstairs. I guess it is for the view. They put me in a front window area which was perfect. Then, the server takes you to the fish market where you select your fish and/or seafood and the amount. They weigh it and will steam, deep fry, or grill it. I opted for Lobster grilled.

They bring you an assortment of sauces: drawn butter, drawn butter with garlic, a sweet jammy apricot, and piri piri. I love piri piri!

View from restaurant while I waited for food You can see a reflection of Devil's Peak at very beginning.
